Argentina were crowned South American Volleyball Cup champions after beating Brazil 3-2 in a final whose momentum changed hands several times. Set scores of 21-25, 25-21, 20-25, 25-20 and 15-10 produced a long contest of alternating responses and a tie-break ultimately controlled by Argentina's blocking. The victory also secured a place in the following year's Pan American tournament.

Martín Arredondo's national side entered the event with an alternative squad featuring young players and athletes who do not usually collect as many minutes with the senior team. The decision provided competition for a group that will later join the main roster preparing for September's Olympic qualifying tournament in Rio de Janeiro. Argentina and Brazil had already reached that event through their rankings.

Brazil took the opening set 25-21 after a balanced start. Argentina at one stage held a four-point advantage but lost efficiency as the score approached 20. The height of the Brazilian attackers began to have an effect, while Argentina's service errors reduced the pressure on the opposing reception. That combination tilted the first chapter toward Brazil.

Argentina responded in the second set. Two aces, more accurate tactical serving and attacks from the back row helped establish a 17-13 lead and preserve the margin through 25-21. The third set changed direction again: Brazil distributed comfortably through the middle and the wings, while three Argentina serves missed beyond 20 points helped consolidate a 25-20 Brazilian win.

With the final on the edge, Argentina recovered in the fourth through Gustavo Maciel's blocking and Federico Debonis's productive entry on the wing. A five- or six-point advantage remained stable and became another 25-20, this time forcing the decider. Argentina began the fifth set 7-3; Brazil closed to 9-8, but an Iñaki Ramos attack and a Debonis block created an 11-8 cushion.

The final blocks completed the 15-10 result and started the celebration. Ramos, the opposite hitter and Argentina's main attacking reference, scored 23 points and was named match MVP. Brazil's Maicon led all scorers with 24, while Ignacio Luengas supplied 14, Lucas Conde and Gustavo Maciel added 13 each, and Federico Arquez directed the offence with Santiago Arroyo at libero.

The tournament also organised the continental route toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Because Argentina and Brazil were already qualified by ranking for September's pre-Olympic event, the places earned through this competition went to Chile, Colombia, Venezuela and Bolivia. For the champions, the value was double: they added a trophy against their historic rival and proved that an alternative group could endure five sets, make adjustments during a final and decide it under maximum pressure.
