Argentina defeated Brazil 3-2 in Cochabamba to become champions of the 2026 South American Volleyball Cup. Martín Arredondo's team settled a shifting final in the tie-break and also secured qualification for next year's Pan American tournament.
Brazil took the first set 25-21 after overturning an Argentine 13-11 lead. Argentina responded in the second, moved ahead early and showed greater consistency at the finish to level the match with another 25-21 scoreline.
The third set went back to Brazil. The teams stayed close until 14-15, but Brazil opened an 18-15 gap and managed that advantage to win 25-20, leaving Argentina needing to extend the final.
The response arrived in the fourth set. With Debonis and Salazar involved, Argentina moved 9-4 ahead, stretched their control to 17-11 and closed it 25-20 through a Salazar set point and a Luengas attack that sent the title match to a decider.
Argentina began the fifth set with a 7-3 lead. Brazil closed the gap through their blocking, but an Iñaki Ramos rotation and blocks by Debonis and Ramos rebuilt a 12-8 advantage; Gustavo Maciel scored the final point for 15-10.
Ramos finished as Argentina's leading scorer with 23 points. Maciel and Santiago Arroyo were selected in the tournament team, while Federico Arquez received the MVP award. The title completed a campaign of collective growth and set up another continental challenge in 2027.
