Atenas de Río Cuarto beat Argentino de Monte Maíz 2-1 at Estadio Modesto Marrone in round two of the Torneo Federal A championship stage. The Córdoba derby was settled in the final minute and sent all three points home with the visitors.
Martín Vera put Atenas ahead after five minutes. The midfielder gave the Albo an early lead, and the visitors carried that 1-0 advantage into the interval.
Argentino responded in the second half. Ignacio Blangetti made it 1-1 in the 55th minute and restored parity to a match played on very fine margins for the final half hour.
The decisive moment arrived in the 90th minute. Agustín Arcando converted the 2-1 goal for Atenas from Franco Schiavoni's assist and denied the Monte Maíz side just as the draw appeared secure.
It was the teams' third meeting in 2026. Atenas had won 1-0 in Río Cuarto on 10 May before a 0-0 draw in Monte Maíz on 12 July, leaving the Albo unbeaten in the year's series with two wins and one draw.
The result gave Atenas a valuable victory and fresh momentum in the nine-team group. Argentino, meanwhile, let a point slip away at home in another match that underlined how closely contested this Córdoba rivalry has become.
