The 2026 Ultra Maratón Formosa brought runners from six Latin American countries to the provincial capital’s riverside course. The ultradistance meeting combined national and international competition and again placed north-eastern Argentina on the regional endurance calendar.

Athletes came from Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Mexico and Ecuador. The event was endorsed by the Argentine Ultrarunners Association and offered four time-based formats: 3, 6, 12 and 24 hours.

The 24 and 6-hour races began at 09:00 on Saturday. The 3-hour event started at 16:00, while the 12-hour competition got under way at 21:00 and continued through the night on the Costanera circuit.

The main event lasted until 09:00 on Sunday, completing 24 hours of effort. It formed part of the Copa Argentina and presented the toughest challenge in a programme built around physical management, strategy and perseverance.

The conclusion confirmed Formosa’s ability to host a discipline that measures performance by distance accumulated within a fixed time. Without relying on a traditional finish line, each runner established an individual limit during a meeting defined by continuity and regional participation.
