The CONMEBOL South American Under-17 Futsal Championship is observing its second rest day on Friday, 14 August before the decisive stage. The tournament runs from 8 to 16 August at the SUMA Complex in Luque, Paraguay, with Argentina entering as defending champions and Group B seeds.
Ten national teams were divided into two groups of five. Paraguay headed Group A alongside Venezuela, Chile, Uruguay and Colombia, while Argentina shared Group B with Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru.
The preliminary stage was arranged as a single round robin. The top two teams in each group advance to the semifinals, while the other six continue in matches used to establish the final positions, keeping every team involved through the tournament's closing phase.
Group play occupied 8, 9, 10, 12 and 13 August, with a rest day on Tuesday the 11th. Argentina's scheduled route featured matches against Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil, all at the venue in Luque.
The final stage will begin on Saturday the 15th with the meetings between the fifth-placed teams and between the fourth-placed teams, as well as both semifinals: the Group A winner against the Group B runner-up and the Group B winner against the Group A runner-up. The published schedule did not list kick-off times for those games.
The competition will conclude on Sunday the 16th. The third-placed teams from each group will meet, the semifinal losers will contest third place and the winners will play for the title, completing an edition staged entirely in Luque.
