Juan Ignacio Marcos will lead a basketball camp on 25 and 26 July in Eldorado, Misiones. The event will be held at Gimnasio Malvinas Argentinas in the Municipal Sports Centre and will bring together more than fifty boys and girls aged 8 to 19.
The call reached several towns across Misiones as well as neighbouring provinces. With only days to go, organisers reported fewer than ten places remaining, a sign of the interest created by the opportunity to train with an Argentina national team player.
Marcos’s bond with the province is central to the project. Although he was born in Rosario, he developed in the youth system of Club El Coatí and grew up in Misiones. He also chose to represent the province in Argentina’s former national tournaments, a path that explains his decision to hold the camp there.
The guard will share technical concepts and experiences from his career, seeking to help participants absorb the lessons and understand the value of pursuing a sporting project through sustained effort. His return also provides a nearby reference for young players beginning to build their own journeys at clubs and cities across northeastern Argentina.
The staff includes the player’s father, Mariano Marcos, a national teams coordinator currently working at Quimsa in Santiago del Estero. Agustín Antúnez, Sebastián Villalba, Gonzalo Franco, Andrés Pipi Paredes and Lucía Marcos will also take part, forming the professional group for both days.
Registration includes official camp clothing, a basketball, prizes during the activities and photographic coverage. The detailed schedule was due to be announced by the organisers. Beyond the court, the initiative links elite sport, development and belonging: a national team player returns to the place where he grew up to share tools with the next generation.
