San Martín de Formosa began the Federal A Championship Zone with victory in the provincial derby. La Franja beat Sol de América 2-1 at Estadio 17 de Octubre and collected their first three points in Zone A.
The scoring opened after six minutes through a Fabricio Enrique Rojas own goal. That action put the hosts ahead early and shaped a match officiated by Córdoba referee Fernando Rekers.
Sol de América equalised in the second half through Fabricio Enrique Rojas himself, who scored 14 minutes after the restart. The score did not remain level for long: Facundo Monín converted the penalty that restored San Martín’s advantage.
The derby remained tense until the end, and the visitors finished with ten players following Elías Medeiro’s dismissal. San Martín protected the 2-1 lead and turned home advantage into a positive start to the phase that brings together the teams competing to advance.
Matchday two takes San Martín to Pergamino for an away game against Douglas Haig. Sol de América will seek a response in Formosa, where they host Defensores de Belgrano de Villa Ramallo.
