Argentina's futsal Under-20 national team returned to training with an eighteen-player call-up at the Coliseum inside the Lionel Messi complex. The new working session restarted the preparation of a squad whose central target is the age-group South American Championship.
The session began with physical drills led by fitness coach Pablo Rubio. The group then moved to tactical work on court under Mariano Gómez and head coach Damián Stazzone, a sequence designed to restore rhythm and organise collective concepts.
The championship will be played in Venezuela from 26 September to 4 October. Argentina arrive as defending champions after winning the title in Peru in 2024, a status that turns this preparation into the practical construction of a continental title defence.
The squad included Nahuel Brion, Mirko Cava, Zacarías Moroián, Facundo Páez, Sebastián Benítez Gigena, Nicolás Gordedo, Francesco Dolcino, Tiziano Cardozo, Camilo Gullo Diez, Ezequiel Henriques, Marcos Geracitano, Felipe Pereyra, Genaro Lanzillotta, Laureano Biurrarena, Juan Baigorria, Santino Paganini, Renzo Feito and Joaquín Mardones.
The call-up reflects a base spread across many Argentine futsal clubs. Independiente supplied three players; Boca Juniors and Kimberley two each; with representatives also coming from Jorge Newbery, Platense, 17 de Agosto, Ferro, 25 de Mayo, Estrella de Boedo, River, Banfield, América del Sud and Racing.
The return to court opens a period of assessment and refinement before the trip to Venezuela. With the title as the benchmark and a broad group under observation, every training cycle will help define the squad that takes on the continental challenge from late September into early October.
