The Argentine Football Association has resolved to promote a minute of applause for the national team at every match in its official competitions. The measure was approved by the Executive Committee on 21 July, two days after the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup.

The recognition is directed at the entire Argentina squad, which finished the tournament as world runners-up. AFA highlighted both the team’s sporting performance and its conduct away from the pitch.

The invitation will take place before the opening handshake of each match. Stadium public-address systems will ask supporters to offer one minute of applause in tribute to the national team.

The resolution applies to every category of AFA’s official championships. The recognition will therefore not be restricted to the top division, but will extend throughout Argentine football.

In its communication, the association linked the national team’s campaign with pride and national unity. The runner-up finish was presented as an achievement capable of bringing Argentines together behind the team and representing a shared identity.

The tribute will turn every stadium into a space of collective gratitude. After a campaign defined by resilience and commitment, Argentine football will recognise a team that reached the final and competed until the last match of the World Cup.
