Temperley recovered second place in Primera Nacional Zone B through a victory built on reaction. El Gasolero beat Gimnasia de Jujuy 2-1 at the Alfredo Beranger in round 32 after falling behind. Nicolás Domingo’s team scored twice before halftime and then protected the margin against a direct rival that spent the second period searching for an equaliser.
The opening favoured the visitors. Gimnasia settled with organisation and capitalised on one of their first opportunities inside the penalty area. After 21 minutes, Mauro Cachi found space and finished accurately past the home goalkeeper. The 0-1 score shocked a stadium expecting greater initiative from Temperley and forced the hosts to accelerate without losing their structure.
The response arrived only six minutes later. Temperley assembled a fine collective combination, moved the ball quickly and Marcos Echeverría appeared to complete the play in the 27th minute. The equaliser immediately changed the atmosphere: it restored confidence, energised the stands and pushed Gimnasia several metres backwards. The hosts understood that a full comeback was possible before the interval.
Just as the first half appeared destined to end 1-1, Gabriel Hauche used his experience to change the story. In the 45th minute, he received the ball inside the area and calmly finished for 2-1. The striker scored at the most sensitive moment, immediately before the teams entered the dressing rooms. In fewer than 20 minutes, Temperley turned an adverse match into a lead they could manage.
Gimnasia moved their lines higher during the second half. Matías Módolo’s side spent more time in opposition territory and forced Temperley to work close to their own area, but that territorial presence did not produce enough clear opportunities. El Gasolero closed central spaces, maintained marking responsibilities and avoided conceding a clean chance capable of placing victory at risk.
The ability to resist completed a different kind of victory from those obtained through dominance. Temperley had to absorb the opening setback, respond with football and then defend with concentration. Those qualities matter in a stage defined by minimal margins. Beating a direct competitor not only adds three points: it prevents the opponent from advancing and strengthens the squad’s belief for the decisive rounds.
The 2-1 result returned the Turdera side to second place in Zone B, near the leaders and with a chance to compete for a place in the promotion final. The objective still requires consistency and permits no relaxation, but the comeback provides a sign of maturity. Temperley left the Beranger with position, momentum and certainty that they possess the resources to change a match even after a difficult start.
