River Plate beat Unión de Santa Fe 3-1 away in round three of the women's Torneo Clausura. The Millonarias built the difference patiently, scored in both halves and took three points from opponents who had opened the championship with two victories.
Mercedes Diz opened the scoring after 33 minutes of the first half. The goal allowed River to reach the interval ahead and placed the responsibility on Unión to push forward in search of a response.
Diz appeared again 14 minutes into the second half to complete her brace. The 2-0 scoreline strengthened the visitors' control and left the Tatengas needing to take risks in the decisive stretch.
Aldana Barrionuevo scored the third in the 88th minute to secure the win. Two minutes later, Jesica Casatti pulled one back for Unión and set the final 3-1 score in Santa Fe.
It was Unión's first Clausura defeat after wins over Gimnasia on opening day and Banfield in round two. The Santa Fe side remained on six points and could not extend a start that had reinforced their confidence.
River, meanwhile, followed their victory over Independiente with another positive result and maintained their growth in the competition. The next round will test the Millonarias' ability to consolidate that sequence and Unión's response to a first setback.
