Patagonia Rugby Club of Neuquén and Marabunta Rugby Club of Cipolletti shared the titles at the Women's Patagonian Club Regional, played over the weekend at Club Deportivo Portugués in Comodoro Rivadavia. Patagonia became senior champions and Marabunta prevailed at junior level. Both clubs also achieved qualification for the National tournament scheduled for October, extending their seasons beyond the regional competition.
The senior final produced the tightest score of the tournament. Patagonia defeated Marabunta 17-15 and captured the main category by a margin of only two points. The result confirms a contest of maximum parity, although the record does not detail tries, conversions, penalties or the scoring sequence. The only safe reading is that the Neuquén team retained the necessary advantage through the closing stages.
At junior level, Marabunta constructed a very different final. The Río Negro club beat Trelew Rugby Club 37-0 and secured the title without conceding a point. The scale indicates clear superiority on the scoreboard but does not permit an invented action-by-action account. It does highlight the contrast between the two decisions: one category was settled by two points and the other by 37.
The champions also reached an objective that carries their season beyond Patagonia. Patagonia will represent the region in the senior category and Marabunta at junior level in the Women's National Club tournament. The competition will be held on 4 October in Carlos Paz, Córdoba province. That date provides several weeks to prepare for transferring regional performance into a national-level demand.
The tournament brought together a broad geographical representation. In addition to hosts Deportivo Portugués and the three finalists, San Jorge Rugby Club and Zorros Rugby of Caleta Olivia, Bigornia Club of Rawson and Jabalíes Rugby Club of El Bolsón participated. The list connected clubs from Chubut, Santa Cruz, Río Negro and Neuquén and reflected a competitive structure requiring long journeys to sustain women's rugby.
Marabunta appeared in both finals, finishing as senior runners-up and junior champions. That double route shows institutional depth across categories without requiring an exaggerated claim of absolute dominance. Patagonia, meanwhile, took the main title against the same opponent that later celebrated among the younger players. The outcomes distributed prominence and sent two different institutions to the National tournament in their respective divisions.
The Regional therefore produced two champions, two qualifications and a concrete continuation for Patagonian women's rugby. Patagonia and Marabunta travel to Carlos Paz with contrasting final experiences: a narrow 17-15 victory and a 37-0 win. Their next challenge is to compete beyond the region, while the other clubs retain a tournament connecting several cities and giving visibility to both senior and junior squads.
